First well baby check

Isabel had her first official well baby check up today. She's doing great. She's up to 6 lb 4.5 oz and 19.5 inches. She falls into the 10th percentile for weight and head circumference (34.5 cm) and 25th percentile for height. Her nerve reflexes are good and everything else checked out just fine. She's going through a little growth spurt evidenced by the frequency of demanded feedings. Still between 2 - 3 hours, but she's crying for between meal snacks the past day or so. So, all of that crying and fussyness is probably just growth and not the dreaded colic.

Her umbilical cord stump fell off a while ago, but her belly button hasn't healed and is still a bit oozy every once in a while, so we're still on sponge baths until it does. And, we're going to start giving her a pacifier and see what happens. I'm not quite sure why I have reservations about it, but I do. She's super well established with breastfeeding, so that's not it. Anyway, we'll give it a go and see if she even likes it. Her doctor recommends trying to wean her off it starting at 6 months anyway so it doesn't become a life habit.

We picked up a projection mobile last night so we'll turn it on for her tonight and see if she likes it. She is alert so much of the time now. At least she'll have something else to look at besides mine & Ryan's faces.

So, in a nutshell - all is good on the baby front. She's healthy, happy and adorable, so we couldn't ask for anything more.
