Christmas was lots of fun this year, and I expect it to be even more fun next year as Busy gets older. We stuck with our 2 holidays traditions of opening Christmas pajamas and watching Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. She got a little antsy during the movie, but we were able to finish it without a major meltdown or anything which is good. She was a little overwhelemed at having so many packages surrounding her (not that many, but for a pint-size I can see how it would seem like a ton), but she got the hang of tearing open the wrapping paper and eventually enjoyed herself. Thankfully she has already played with everything and has liked it all. No duds this year.
Another tradition around here is the post-Christmas shopping, whether it is on sale or not. We figure it's better to wait and see what other people get her/us, then go get the stuff we didn't get but have been wanting. A few days ago we picked up the cutest littlest table and chairs for her. A friend of ours has it in her house so I was able to see it set up and in use first. I decided we should have one, too. She loves it. She had a friend over yesterday for coloring and it was an instant hit. A roll of 98.5 feet of paper should last us a while.
We also went to the Aerospace Museum yesterday. It was better than I thought it would be, but since I knew almost nothing about it I really didn't know what to expect. Busy had a ton of fun! We were able to go into 1 cargo plane and 1 helicopter. She wanted to "get on" every single plane they had. One of the displays in the outdoor yard was an armament laying on its side in between two planes. Busy saw that and said "airplane fall down." Too cute.
I'm not really the type to make resolutions for the new year. I try and make changes throughout the year. I figure the less prodution I make about it, the less of a big deal it is when things don't work out. I will say I am excited for 2011 and all of the changes we will see in Busy. I am also excited for myself & the things I intend on getting done and for Ryan and the potential good things he may see at work.
We hope you all have a wonderful 2011 too!
* In addition to Busy having a few weird, less-than-12-hour nights, our oldest dog is also having some trouble sleeping. I'm a light sleeper, and her panting and chuffing all night keeps me awake. On the Busy front, the other night she was up from about midnight until just about 4 am. Crying? Only when you tried to leave the room. No, she was in her crib reciting all the words she knows. I spent the first few minutes laughing. Once I realized she wasn't winding back down it wasn't so cute anymore. Then about 3:30 or so she took off her pants and diaper and insisted we sit on the potty. Fortunately a lack of sleep does not show itself with her.
