Anyway, on to Little Miss. She was G-R-E-A-T! I was a little worried about the elevation and her ears, but she didn't make a peep. And, she stayed awake for quite a bit of the drive up there (about 2 1/2 hours or so). She ate once we got to the store and was so well behaved while we walked around. She started to fuss just a bit at about the 2 hour mark because she was getting sleepy. We had just started to eat our lunch in the cafe @ the store so Ryan and I took turns walking her around the store to calm her down. It only took 2 round trips in the stroller and she was out. We were able to finish our lunch and have a few turns in the shooting gallery (game, not real).
We left Reno & made the quick trip to Tahoe. Once we got there Isabel started getting a little fussy. I fed her again, even though she ate maybe 45 minutes prior. For some reason all of a sudden she couldn't be consoled. We tried everything and nothing was working. We figured her tummy hurt because she hadn't pooped in a few days. She cried off and on during the drive back home - definitely not like her at all. Sure enough she pooped big that night. And again for the next two mornings. So, we started her on solids again. We had stopped the squash because of the lack of poop, but since she pooped again we started applesauce on Tuesday. (really, how many times can I say "poop" in one post?)
We went with fruit thinking it might make its way through her system a little easier. It turns out applesauce is a constipate. Needless to say she's on day #4 of no poop. She had maybe one or two nights of crying in her sleep about an hour after she goes to bed. Wednesday was the worst because she just wouldn't stop crying - and it was a heartbreaking cry. I ended up sleeping on the floor with her all night & nursing her to sleep. Last night was great though. She cried for maybe 2 minutes after we put her to bed and didn't hear another peep out of her for the next 10 hours. Today she's been all smiles and no tummy tenderness.
Unless I see poop in her diaper when she wakes up from her nap I'll be calling the advice nurse this evening. We're due to start another food tomorrow, but I'm not sure we should. Or if we should, what should it be? I'm a little surprised at how confusing this solid food thing is. I had no idea there was so much to it. It's been as frustrating as it's been fun. She's liked everything she's tried so far which is good.
Monday we started our Music Together class. I think she liked it. She got a little tired towards the end, but hung in there and really liked seeing herself in their giant dance-studio mirror. I think each week she'll like it more and more.
That's about it. I really should get these posts done sooner. There ends up being way too much stuff to talk about in one post.
Prunes or pears. Ask your pediatrician, but you might want to give her a little watered down prune juice every day to keep her regular. One of my friends does this with her 9 month old and has since he was about 4 months old (w/ her Ped's approval). Some babies just need the extra digestive help :)
