Isabel's new trick

Well, it's not really a new trick as much as a necessity. She finally decided to drink through a straw! I'm not sure if she took a cue from Ripley or not, and really I don't care. I'm just happy she's doing it. I will admit the first time she did it for me I cried a little. It's so fun to watch her pick up a new skill and run with it. Now, I can be away from her and not worry about whether or not she's getting enough liquids. And, it makes weaning possible which I am ready to do. I think Busybel is, too. She has only grabbed at my shirt a few times and that was about 2 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't notice (at least not right away) if we stopped nursing.

It's getting harder to put her down for bedtimes since she's started standing up. Nap times aren't for sleeping, they're for standing up in the crib and looking at ourselves. And laughing. We've been taking turns sitting in her room until she falls asleep. Otherwise all hell breaks loose. We can put her in her crib awake like we always do, but it takes her a lot longer to fall asleep now than before. She always has a little trouble sleeping when she's working on something new, so hopefully that is all this is.

Otherwise she's eating a ton and really wanting what we eat. We'd love to share, but without the top two teeth she can't chew things enough. We try hard to get creative with finger foods, but we're just kinda stuck in puree mode for now. She loves chasing after Stuey to play and sitting quietly with Emory. Stuey is in hell - a hell he deserves ; )
