This past week has been all over the place in terms of sleep. I've had a few successes putting Isabel down while she was still awake but drowsy. Yay! Other times she cries and screams for an hour before finally wearing herself out and falling asleep. The past two Mondays have been consistently bad for getting her down at a decent time. Mondays are the nights she cries for at least an hour and doesn't fall asleep until 10 or 11. The past two Mondays I have left her with a friend so I can work my 2 hours a week. Not sure how much the two are connected, but they seem to be to some degree.
Ryan and I have been paying more attention to the amount of time she is awake and anticipating her sleepy time cues better. It's working and helping her take good naps most days. Yesterday was an exception. Yesterday was bad for both of us. We were both over tired and just needed a nap. She napped less during the entire day than she normally does in her first morning nap. Sheesh.
Tonight her East Coast Gramma comes in to town for their introduction. I'm excited for her to meet her first granddaughter. She'll be here until next Tuesday morning. I know she's been looking forward to this and I'm sure Isabel will be very happy with her visitor. We'll get the two families together this weekend for a bbq so everyone can coo over Little Miss and Ryan and I can blend into the background. We may even get an extra nap in with all of the baby coverage we'll have!
This past week she's started blowing lippy raspberries and getting good at reaching out for her toys. Now if she could just get her hands to open and close we'll be in business. Her legs get stronger by the day and she's working hard on sitting up. She still doesn't like tummy time too much, but at least she tolerates it now. We're making progress.
The more time I spend with her the more I realize that until you do it you can never know how literally all consuming a baby is. Even though people talk about it, you just don't understand until you do it. A big adjustment doesn't seem to cover how much your life changes. Some good days and some bad days, but every day is a mini adventure for sure
